Jason Hawkins and his technician Joe Gray were called out to Lowestoft Ex-Servicemen’s Club to deal with an emergency blockage. The club’s manager, David Mayhurst, said: “We have had problems with the drains here before. Last year all the toilets got blocked and were overflowing which meant we had to close the club while the problem was fixed.
“Cleaning and repairing the drains here is a problem because they all run right under the building. When we noticed that the same thing was happening again we called Drain Doctor because we wanted to get the problem fixed quickly without having to close the club.”
Because the drains run under the building and out into the road the only access to them is from inside the club’s busy bar. This meant that a no-dig lining repair was the only option.
Jason Hawkins said: “We were able to access the drains from the bar area. We arranged the repair work around the club’s opening times which meant that it didn’t have to close and therefore lose valuable revenue.”
David Mayhurst added: “Drain Doctor was quick and efficient. After they identified the problem they were able to fix it, working around our opening hours and keeping disruption to the club and its members to a minimum.”
As an ex-serviceman himself – Jason spent many years as a Physical Training Instructor in the Royal Navy – he was happy to help.
“Although it’s not a requirement to have served your country to be a member, and the club is a typical working men’s club, as an ex-serviceman myself I was pleased to be able to repair the drains and help keep the club open.
